¡BY THE A0ULAND PRINTING CO. A H J rtPlWQS OUT OUR WAY r \N H O A , Tragedy ha« already over-shadowed the Dole Hawaiian race. Tw lost their lives when their t»o-oall- ttd “ freak” plane crashed. , There was near-tragedy Thursday when a second plan crashed. But soon the great race which will be a further step i n aerial history will be started. Those daring souls always willing to face the perils of uncertain- ity are undaunted by the tragic fate of their fellow coneetants. With a certainty aerial history—is an other step forward in the path of progress—is to be made. And the fate of the two daring youthful pilots who lost their lives in the Pole race makes us re- momhor the gallant Frenchmen, Coli and Nungesser who not so long ago» too sought to make advance ment in the progress of the world and were lost. Just a tinge of undertainity still surrounds their fate. But those gallant contestants who started in this race over the long etrip of uncharted sea can remem ber the snocess of “ Slim ” Lindbergh who was undaunted by tragedy and unhampered by fear. It«s Bot merely the fnonetary prize which attracts the spirit of youth on these perilous flights which bring fame- It is the spirit ot adventure. It is the nemo whiefi prompted Christopher Columbus to sail onto the uncharted sea in the face of criticssm and ignorant sttperstitntion. The world will acclaim the whfcier of the race *to Honolulu with every honor. But the darjng heroes Who sacrifice their lives in the path of progress are not forgotten. Always tha path of progress will be marked by those FO q TW i T ^¿5, am ' il l VKETL i A <rV U O 6 6 F B R M u A* T A K E , l U < f n « R i P aw &WtAK eEHVWO 7 T H C O O K S H A tK ÇsO HE.
