The disagreement In connection
w ith the contesting of the game
last Sunday between the Boas and
the Cavemen, which has threaten
ed to disrupt the Southern Oregon
baseball league, w ill be settled at
a special meeting of the directors
of the association In Ashland F ri

C. Nlnlnger, president of the
league.

Informed that each d u b would

evening. The disagreement arose
over the playing of “ Hooalr’’ Hof
fard on the Boas team last Sun
day, which the Cavemen said was
against the rules of the league.
H offard it appears, at the first
of the season signed a contract
and played w ith the Boses u n til
lin a lly he was given an uncondi
tional release. However, he a©-'
copied >27 rirom .th e Boses as

ford July S and 4. He is reported
to have decided then to leave the
Medford team and, a fter negotia

play on the local team, which he
did last Sncday.
HoffaVd Is reported to have re

conditional release.
M artin Bowers, o f Gold H ill,
manager of the Boas, is reported
to have stated be would insist up
on the plnvtng of H offard on
the Boas team.
This w ill no
doubt be resisted by the directors
of the association at thb Friday
evening meeting.
The Medford News in its Tues

to this case:

not a player or any team in the
league is m ightier than the organ
isation Itself.
One of the laws of the organis
ation provides that a player on
one team cannot jum p to another
team without securing a w ritten
release from the team he deserts.
“ Hoosier” H offard, who appeared
devil-bent to return to Medford
to play on the local club, and
whose terms were met by the lo
