Primarily a tourist center, Ashland should furnish all service possible to tourists and the AAA road and other information was appreciated by the many tourists who called at the hotel office while the office was in operation. Some of us may not fully appreciate the AAA service,’ but those who travel extensively use this service and find it invaluable. Worthy Anniversary Rounding out 30 years of continuous business, The Enders store is this month celebrating its an niversary. - This represents a long time in service to a community, which Ashland has appreciated. However, to The Tidings, while this commer cial activity over such a long period is commendable, the most interesting aspect in this anniversary is the personal activities of the members of this firm and the many services which they have rendered our community /hiring the past 20 years. These outside activities always mean a sacri fice in business, yet the members of this firm have always berti ready to share the responsibility and work in making any local movement a» success, even though they no doubt fully realized that the same amount of time devoted entirely to the operation of their business would probably have meant more profit in the long run, as far as dollars and cents -THEtfs R tfrtt w e i, wHfcNÌ r -fa A w tfs F ör X N O H SEE ^ O K C A ltfr i R COMPLIMENT» \ X M A K E rT, AV.LOS ’ BOTTAIS HAPPENtO P H L A 4 DOWN AN'fats' *10 BE A CASE OF L 1 J U M P OVER SOU • POOR FOOT^ORk.j \ -ÍÜE.TS FINE. Ang- •tJI Raising Fruit The results that some of the orchardists in the Ashland territory are accomplishing are remark able and prove the possibilities in cherries and tother fruits on land in or adjacent to Ashland. A visit a few days ago to one of the cherry orchards in this city certainly gave the writer a clearer insight into what a man with a small acreage'and a determination to work could do. That determination to work should be em phasized in any report of a successful orchardist, however, for that is essential, combined ' with a knowledge of the fruit being raised. With a plentiful supply of water, a reasonably good market and other favorable conditions, Ash; land land could well furnish a much larger product ion of small fru it Many Flights Planned The fame which came to Lindbergh has inspired a host of imitators and flights are being planned from Seattle to Tokyo and from various points in Europe to United States. We may expect these flights to become every day affairs before the summer is over if everyone starts who plans. Every flier will encounter some condition peculiar to his attempt and a great deal of knowledge will he added to the sum total of aerial information. New inventions and the adapting of old ones will meet many of the obstacles encountered and we may expect to see the long non-stop flights be come safer with each succeeding hop-off. It is not unreasonable to expect that very great progress in aviation is in store for the summer of 1927. Hollywood Wakes Up * There may he a general exodus of film actors and actresses from Hollywood as a result of sweep ing cuts in salaries or wages or whatever it is that those folk receive—and then again thete may not. ; The general impression is that they will still I» ■»mewhat overpaid in the main. Of course there are oatstanding star» who draw capacity crowds to the theatres and they are worth what they bring to the picture industry, but the rank and file of picture actors are no better or worse than the average of road show talent who never dream of getting a half v \ a t the movie actor receives.
