C. Penney Co. here today of the purchase of three new stores on the Pacific Coast serv­ ing two important towns 71» southern Oregon and one tri northern California. The locali­ ties affected by the purchase are Medford, Oregon; , Aaulaad. Ore­ gon and Yreka, California. t The two former towns are, lm-. p o r ta l canters In the fruit r»la- lug belt of southern Oregon and the latter Is a leading commer­ cial center in the northern part of California. The properties purchased are the three stores previously oper­ ated by the Golden Rule Mer­ cantile Co., underi the direction of C. W. Will6ck who died In March of this year. Previous to the purchase, man- agenment was vested in H. W. Willock and C. A. Willock. Consistent with the general policy of the J. C. Penney Co., the management of these new stores will be placed, in the hands of present qiembers of the oragnlzation. W. 8. Bolger, for­ mer manager of the J. C. Penney Co. store at MaGlll, Nevada, will manage the store at Medford, Oregon; C. W. Fortmlller, for­ merly assistant niaHager % nt ftalem, Oregon, will head the store at Ashland, Oregon; and C. H. Sqhomaker, formerly assistant manager of the J. C. Penny Co. at 8aiem, Oregon will take up the management of the store at Yreka, California.
