By working the splendid Irriga­ tion system at the Ashland Oolf Club ooarse for .4 hours dally, with three shifts of man handling the hose, the club has been en­ abled to make unaaual progress la their effort to give Ashlapd a first class golf course this sum­ mer. Wednesday,' when the official opening will be held, eight holes will be ready for play. Six of theee will be open holes, while two will be reserved — one for practice shots and the other for women who are prohibited from playing on the other greens be­ cause of high heels. The greens, the officials report, are in splendid condition, while the fairways are good, but will be Improved later by fertilisation. The irrigation system is said to be one of the best operated by any golf club.
