In these times when {»Tactically every d a y and
every week is devoted to an “ observance” o f some
sort of an ideal, most o f tbe devotion resulting in a
financial gain to someone— many perfectly good
ideals being commercialized— it is refreshing to
assist in one observance which is made purely fo r
the purpose o f stim ulating interest in institutions
o{«erated solely fo r service to hum anity.
“ N atio n al H ospital D a y ” is being universally
observed in this country today, fo r the purj«ose of
stim ulating public interest in the institutions which
are really public property.

institutions which play so great, a p a rt in the dram a
o f fife—interest lagging until it is drawn to the
institution in a {«ersonal manner. _
“ National Hospital D a y ” observance should be
productive o r -w orthw hile results.
Membership Drive
T h a t Ashland has a live Cham ber of Commerce
—an organization th a t does things— is evidenced by
the splendid results o f the annual membership d rive
being made this week.
Fo lks are always anxious to join an organiza
tion which is accomplishing something— even though
an individu al m ay not be active personally in the
accomplishment of a group— there is always pride
in group accomplishment.
T h a t the Ashland Cham ber has been accomp
lishing things and that Ashland folks have pride
