Robert Stanley Roes,.C. 8. of
New York City, noted, Christian
Science lecturer, and member of
. the Board of Lectureship, deliv
ered a lecture on this subject at
the church last night.
Mr. Ross declared that,
“Christian Science Is demon
strating that tt ia the Christianity
of Jesus’ made practicable today.
Now as of old, it is showing man
kind h°w to escape from all evil.
No matter hoar long one may
have been ill, no matter h o w
deeply one may be involved In sin.
no matter how heavy one’e bur
den of sorrow, poverty, or care,
Christian Science joyfully points
the way out, not through (tenth
and the grave (surely, that is no
way o u t!), but here and now. The
Bible tells us that the kingdom
of God, tha) is, 'the kingdom o f
heaven, is at band here,-now; Chat
"now is the. dgy of salvation;”
that "now are ,we the sops o f
God.” Christian Science is truly
the religion 6f now; for,^.instead
of exhorting us to wait until to
morrow, or next year, or the next
world for salvstlon,.Jt lovingly in
vites us to partake today Of pod's
Infinite goodness. AH the possi
bilities of real being are always
here and everywhere. How*could
they be otherwUe, in view of the
nature and ommpresence of God,
infinite good, whose love is the
same yesterday, and today, and
forever? Consequently, the only
god about whom Christian Science
teaches is "Cod with ns,” a God
who is absent only to those who
believe Him to be absent.
NO INCt’RABLR DISEASE
"But one In the audience may
be saying to himself. Does Chris
tian Science presume to h’eal so-
called Incurable diseases? The
answer Is an emphatic and assur
ing, Yes! and In accordance with
divine authority. No doubt there
are in this audience at least some
people who were healed by Chris
tian Science after other methods
of religion and medicine had fail
ed.
Years ago. in reply to a critic
who had accused the Christian
Science movement of swelling its
ranks from the membership of
other eWirHivs. a "Christfan“Scien
tist replied "My friend, we haven’t
come froip ,» the other churches.
Most of us: have come from the
graveyards.” In those days (it is
practically the same today) nearly
all who turned to" Christian
Science did so only as a last re
sort— only alter other system^ of
religion and medicine had failed.
They were abandoned as human
wreckage.
They had become
mere flotsam and Jetsam upon the
sen of human experience. Never
theless, aided by the gratitude of
those whom her teachings have re
stored to health, happiness, and
usefulness,» after all else had
failed, Mrs. Eddy has taken this
heretofore hopeless material and
built, up the most remarkable re
ligious movement since the days
of the Master.
"Let us understand Cleary,
therefore, that a so-called incur
able disease is merely one which
our friends of the medical profes
sion are unable to cure. In the
sight of infinite Love, God, there
are no , incurable diseases there
never have been any, there never
will be any. ‘ If tnofe were, howe

"To Illustrate further: If you,

should stand before a mirror,
would you hue-yourself In the mir

Do you ever think of yourself as

is an Important question. Can
