eration of Womens' Clubs, which
meets in Grants Pass the fourth

before. Besides these three wom­
en from the Upper Valley Club,

Chamberlain

Miss
Palmer from the Ashland Civic
Club and Mrs. Sam McNair and
Mrs. Clinton
Baughman
from
the Art Club were present from
Ashland and a great deal was ac­
complished toward having
the <
real convention passed off help­
fully and without a hitch in the
plans. These preliminary meet­
ings are surely a good thing, and
necessary .to the success of any ]
large meeting.
The rural communities feel
grateful to the Chamber of Com- ,
meroe also to the Kiwanls Club,
and other town organizations,
who are helping to boost for bet­
ter things. The Chamber of Com- ]
merce not long ago gave over a
forum luncheon to the urging of
a greater poultry effort. The K l-
wanis Club two weeks ago had a
rucceeaful poultry man devote the
luncheon hour, to tell to invited ,
guests from the rural districts, s
how the wlley hen could be induc­
ed to lay the ..golden egg.

City Council, it'is said, means to
urge the making of Ashland and
the Rogue R iver valley into .a
modern Petaluma, as one of It's
major .projects. W ith these or- *
ganlzations behind the effort, it
does seem that it should be a con­
structive one and result in only
good..
