The recent scrutiny of Mars, while that planet
Whs bedrer the earth than tlstlal, has brought from
Mstfonotners a little more definite infotmatioii as to
the possibility of life existing there.
Formerly it was thought that the Martin tem
perature was too cold to sustain lift, and that there
was probably too little atmosphere there, and too
little moisture. D r .W , W. Coblenz of-the U. S.
Bureau of Standards, who conducted extensive ob
servations from the Lowel Observatory in Arizona,
reporte that in September the temperatures observ
ed on Mars were considerably above 68 degrees
Fahrenheit, Which Was the highest mark previously
known. Also that clouds were Observed, suggest
ing atmospheric conditions not greatly unlike oilr
own.
This does hot prove that life exists on Mars.
It does indicate, however, that it is not impossible
that there is life of some sort there.
That is Very far from saying that there are men
on Mars, or any type of intelligent creatures Com
parable to man.
We may never khow much more about the
niatteh SO terrestrial men and women might as
well settle down to learn all they can about this
little old footstool of thé Creator, and make the
best possible use of it. There are plenty of prob
lems here to occupy their attention.

Editors generally have some kind of a howl!
Most of the time the objective is a serious wail that
“ Aft for Art’s sake,” doesn’t put new shirts on
the editoriâl backs.
Here is our idea of getting Out a newspaiiet:—
It is not a picnic.
If tre print jokes, folks say wc are silly.
If we don't, they say we are too serious.
If we publish original matter, they say We lffck-
variety. ,
'
If Wc publish things from other papers, we’re
too lazy to write.
If we stay on the job, wfe ought to be out rust
ling news.
If we’re rustling news, w e’re not attending to
business in the office.
If we don’t print contributions, we don’t show
proper appreciation.
If we do print them, they say the newspaper
should not be used for that purjiose.
Like as not, some one will say we swiped this
from some magazine.

He was out to find, fault with thé tiôtloft and he
did. He found that there are more divorces in this
