Many earnest persons with

SOME, g o v . 2 8.— A prenuptial
agreem ent between Signor M a r
coni, Inventor of the wlreieee, and
hie w ife, may cause the Catholic
church to free another widely
known couple from their m arriage
bonde.
Close on announcem ent o f an
nulment of the marriage o f the
Duke Marlborough to the former
Consuelo Vanderbilt com es the
statem ent "from Marconi that he
will ask the holy church a t Rosea
to make final annulm ent provis
ionally granted by the Catholic
curia at W estminster.
The Inventor has been divorc
ed from bis wife, the former Hon.
Beatrice O’Brien of Ireland, Since
1923. She 1 b now married to Mar
quis Montecorona.
W hile coercion on the part of
Mrs. O. H. P. Belmont, the duch
ess of Marlborough’s mother, was
given as the reason for the
church’s annulment of the Marl
borough marriage, action may be
taken in this case involving one of
the church’s chief stands on the
institution of marriage.
Signor and Mrs. Marconi a t thé
time of their marriage made a
pledge that either might dissolve
it whenever they saw fit. A s the
Catholic church sees all mar
riages as permanent this agree
ment makes the marriage binding
as far as the doctrines o f Uh
courts are concerned.
