greatest number of pople, and the providing of protection for our
priceless county records. *

We believe that now is the time to make this change, as the old
courthouse has served its period of usefulness, and a definite loca­
tion for the county seat should be determined before permanent ex­
penditures are made.

Falls—
•
We know that the statements of the opposition in regard to the
cost of a new courthouse must be exaggerated. If such statements
were correct, the State of Oregon could not have built the magnificent
Southern Oregon Normal, furnished it, graded the grounds and pro­
vided a library, at a cost of $175,000.00. Wo further know that in­
stead of a levy of ten mills (as claimed by the Jacksonville Committee)
to provide funds to build a courthouse at the end of five years, that
a maximum levy of one mill will he sufficient.
We believe in progress, and we believe to relocate the county
seat at Medford is in line with developmnt and progress.
