A RESOLUTION declaring the intention of the City of Medford to
build a city hall and leaae the same to the county as a temporary
court house and to donate a site for a permanent court house to
Jackson County.
WHEREAS» heretofore upon the 7th day of April, 1925, the City
Council of the Cjity t f f Medford, at the request of the Jackson Coun
ty Bar Association, did endorse the report of said Bar Association
and express its willingness to submit to the people of Medford the
question of constructing a building suitable for a temporary court
house and donating a site for a permanent court house.
And Whereas, upon said matters being duly submitted to the people
of said city and being passed on favorably by them,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MEDFORD, OREGON, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That in compliance with the former expressions of this
body and the approval thereof by the vote of the people, the city
council will, and does undertake, provided the people of Jackson
county shall vote to change the county seat from Jacksonville to
Medford at the coming general election, to erect and build a city
hall building along the lines of the Josephine county courthouse,
approximately ninety ’ by ninety feet, built of concrete exterior,
instead of tile, and with plain finish inside, instead of marble, two
stories and basement, which will contain, roughly speaking, approxi
mately twice the office space of the present Jacksonville courthouse
and one-third more office space than the present offices of the Jose
phine county courthouse.

Ashland, Oregon.
November 1, 1326.
To Whom It May Concern:—
In 1922 the proposition to move the county seat
from Jacksonville to Medford was defeated by a email
vote. * * ■
.
I favored the removal at that time and tomorrow
I shall again vote in favor of the change. All sentiment
aside, and viewing it as a business proposition, the
County seat should bo located at Medford. I could ad
vance many" reasons ttvoring the change that seem to
me convincing, but they have .been given publicity so
rejieatedly that it w’ould be a useless rejietition to enum
erate them here.
As a matter of economy, safety and convenience 1
hope the voters of Jackson County will sanction the
change at the polls tomorrow.

To Whom It May Concern:—
After carefully considering all statements which
have come to my attention relative to the removal of
the county seat, it is my conviction that the time has
come when it would be wise to have the county seat lo
cated in the City of Medford.

A B U SIN E SS PROPOSITION
•
To Whom It May Concern:—
Tomorrow the voters of Jackson county will ho
called upon to i*usa upon the advisability of the removal
of (,he county seat from Jacksonville to Medford.
It would certainly appear that the time has come
when the people of this county should make pennanent
improvements in the matter of the county courthouso,
and at a site which will be convenient for the greatest
number of people.
I believe'that in*View of the generous offer which
Medford lias made that wo should take advantage of this
opportunity andsfyoto to permanently fix the county
seat, in the center of the county. I have only the friend
Rest feeling for Jacksonville, but believe that good busi
ness judgment should be the determining factor.

To Whom It May Concern:—
It is my opinion that the removal of the court house
to Medford is a business proposition deserving our fav
orable consideration und support, and that in the years
to come the taxpayers will he materially benefittod by the
change and will come to sec the wisdom of having made
it before spending large sums for improvement of ,the
old buildings.
