Mrs. Clara Duncan Saunders
was born July 31st, 1866 near
Fierce City, Missouri.
H er girlhood was spent In
Pierce City, where she was gradu-
«bsd from Pierce City College. At
an early ago she united w ith the
ttbthodist church singing in the
choir for many years. A pril IS,
1333. she was united in marrtaUe
*w James B. Saunders, who sur­
vives her. To this union foar
children were horn, three
of
whom are living.
Mrs. Mabie
Bateman and Claud Saunders of
Ashland, and Mrs. Elenor W olt-
ors of Grants Pass, Oregon. Two
grandchildren also survive,

sranda Bateman and Charlotte
Welters.
Mrs. Saunders has been a resi­
dent of Ashland since 13S7. The
fam ily having moved Oom Mls-
uenri to Seattle, Wash., and
thence to Ashland. Soon after
eemlnk here she became Inter­
ested in the work of the Congre­
gational Missionary Ladies So­
ciety and the Ladles Aide and
until Incapacitated -by Illness was
aa active member of these organ­
isations. Mrs. Saunders was a
most devoted wife end mother, a
M ad friend and generous neigh­
bor. one who followed closely the
Qolden Rule, with no thought of
recompense, but with only pleas­
ure la the doing.

can now accommodate b it six county offices out of a total of fourteen. County is now

The present court house, with wood interior is a fire trap that would quickly burn, as in­
sufficient, water supply and fire protection at Jacksonville could never eave it,-

than it would to build an entirely new building. A building will be built if county seat is
not removed to Medford.

A new aonerete building twice the size of the present court house will be built at once by
the City-of Medford and used free of cost by the county officers for fhfo yean. '
This new building will be of ample size to accommodate all county officers and it will save
the county the rental money that they now pay for outside offices.
