Satan and the forces of evil on
the other hand. In Revelation
1*:11 to >1 we have the final
conflict graphically portrayed un
der striking symbolism. The ar
mies of Jehovah are represented
as under the leadership of Chriat,
who is the King of kings ga d
Lord of lords. These do not use
carnal or material
weapons.
Their weapon is the truth. The
armle of wickedness are seen to
be under the control of an organ
isation called “the beast;** and
they are encouraged In their op
position to the Lord and his Mes
siah by an aggregation designated
as “the «false prophet.** T h e
“false prophet” combine is com
posed of faithless religionists
who presume to represent God .to
the people, but who are in reality
following their owu way and Ig-
norihg God’s revelation. It ls not
surprising to find them here asso
ciated with that great system of
oppression and fraud here Char
acterised as “the beast.** But in
gpite of their apparent power,
the armies of unrighteousness are
vanquished and the systems of
evil are destroyed. The destruc
tion is represented by a lake of
fire and brimstone.
In this connection the prophesy
of Malachi is significant. He says
“Behold, the day cometh that
shall burn as an oven,* and all
that are proud, yea. and all that
do wickedly, shall be as stubble;
and the day that cometh shall
burn them up, saith the Lord of
hosts, that it shall leave them
neither root nor branch.’* (Mala
chi 4:1) The unrighteous and
proud must either turn away
from their course or be destroyed.
The day of conflict will taka away
all grounds for pride; but If any
still persist in opposition to the
truth and the God of truth, they
w tll pyrjeh.
{
t
. Many now are on the side of
unrighteousness because they are
blinded by Satan. Such will be
delivered by tbo Christ. They will
be given a knowledge of the plan
.and purpose of God, so that they
may call upon his name and serve
him with one consent, as fore
told by the Prophet Zephanish.
