YOUR PARTY
Voters are urged to read Section 4 of the Housewives'
Council Constitutional Amendment authorizing the State of
Oregon to go into irrigation schemes and into the business
of manufacturing and selliyg light and power.
“ Bonds of the State of Oregon, not to exceed five per centum of the
assessed valuation of the state, may be issued and sold from time to
time to carry out the purpose of this Article and the full faith and
credit of the State of Oregon is hereby pledged for the payment of
the principal of said bonds as the same mature, and the interest ac
cruing thereon as the same falls due."
Every voter should know that the assessed valuation of
Oregon is $1,058,880,736, and that the Housewives’ Council
“Water and Power” board could issue and sell bonds for
$52,944,000. Your property would be a guarantee for the
'V3-
payment of this huge debt.

W ould you »crap Oregon’« direct
primary law? Would you surrender
the important committee chairman
ship« now held by Senatora McNary,
Smoot, Borah, Johnson. Jones, W a r
ren and Oddle, all Western men?
rould you repudiate the policies of
resident Coolidge?
The fight for the U. 8. Senator-
ship Is between the democratic nom
inee and Frederick Steiwer, repub
lican. No Independent has ever been
elected to the U. S. Senate.

The republican party of Oregon Is
fortunate in having Mr. Patterson
as Its Candidate for Governor. Suc

he la equipped to meet and solve
the problems that w ill confront him
aa Governor. Economy, he ha« prac
ticed In .private life; economy he
w ill practice as Oregon’s chief ex
ecutive.
The only real pre-election promise
Mr. Patterson is making Is that he
w ill not follow established preced
ent and spend the people's time and
money traveling about the state
making speeches.
I f you want a Governor who will
be on the job attending to busi
