One of the commissioners returned a few days ago from California where he inspected Court Houses, and he stated that Medford could not build an up to date, fire proof building such as Medford would want, for any $200,000. They say that our statement of $500,000.00 or more is not true. “ B ill” Core, at a meeting of- the Eagle Point Orange last week, stated that he (thought it would be nearer $700,000.00 as he knows the Bedford bunch. .So, Mr. Voter, we are willing to let yon be the judge o f this and all other articles as to who is telling the truth. County Court Consulted They s a / that we could have consulted the County Court and determine that this cost would he excessive. Now that is just what we have been doing — consulting the county court, but we have not been consulting the County Judge. Remember The County Conrt is composed of THREE members, not ONE. The County Court (remember, we mean the three members) have not consulted architects or contractors. Mr. Stewart (Whom we do not consider an Architect) was called in by the County Judge and in the absence of one of the County Commissioners. The commissioners requested the Judge to call an outside, dis interested architect to pass on the condition of the present building but the County would not agree to do this. Mr. Stewart, a man who heart and soul, is in favor of moving the County Seat to Medford, was called in to make the false statement that the present building is beyond repair. “Pop” Gates Statement If all the statements of the Medford Boosters are true, what about the statement of “ Pop” Oates — that it takes two gallons of gas to make the trip from Medford to Jacksonville or. a cost of 46c. I will not say the amount of oil, hut it was in just proportion. Just think, Pop stated that a car would make only five miles to the gallon. We wonder what Henry Pord would think of Gates’ veracity, hnt guess "Pop” thinks a Ford is not a car. Why a Temporary Site? There are fifteen daaeers in the act beaded by Jeane Fuller, the dynamic little star vbose grace and beauty have brought her in to country-wide prominence in a few short years. Why should we move to a temporary building for five years when we are already situated in a building owned by the County surrounded on all sides by beautiful shade trees and a most beautiful yard, one that Medford could not duplicate in years? The County Court In their misleading statements, they say County Court when they mpan County Judge, as the two commissioners with the County Judge compose the County Court, do not agree with the statement as printed in their advertisement. New Court House in Jacksonville The County Judge, but not the County Commissioners, might have made the statement that they would build a new Court House in Jacksonville, but the County Commissioners take the stand that onr present Court House can be remodeled, that it is a good build ing and unless a disinterested Architect can convince them that this present building is beyond repair (and they state that they know the building is good and substantial) they are still of this opinion, at their last session, they refused to sign a statement that they would build a new building in Jacksonville as stated in Medford. Jail and Other Expenses | Have you seen a statement about a new Jail in Medford? They wonld have to move that Jail for the Sheriffs expenses would never do at a cost of 46 cents for gas, as stated by "Pop” Oates. Is $100,- 000.00 too much for the Medford bunch? Yes, Now; but if they get the County Seat, Look Out. WHO will beautify the yard in Medford? WHO will build the copeing? WHO?-Voters, are we overestimating the cost at $500,000.00? Read their ad, you will readily see that the tow residents we have (1-24 live here and west of us—Nobody North, Bast or South of us.)
