Last Sunday, for no particular
reason and from ao special urge,
I drove out to the ball grounds.
H aring no k ith nor kin on the

years
than I should like to confess to,
I had. no particular Internet ip the

as it seems to be able to get
around so many modern problems.
I t turned defeat into victory by
the simple means of renting some

outside the city limits and turn
ing it into a very creditable sem
blance to a baseball field. I t as
sembled some w illing aspirants,
'uniformed them, gave them'some
necessary paraphernalia and want
to the bat, so to speak. Ia a few
weeks there was ready a fa irly
smooth diamond, some brand
new bleachers, an . enthusiastic
team in working order and—
what was needed most of all—
plenty
of moral support.
The
team joined a league composed of
the nines from neighboring towns
<nd began to play ball.
