PORTLAND,, Ore., June 4.—
(UP)— Police were investigating
today a mysterious note found in
a wallet at the union station Inti
mating that M. M. Yeager, a vis
itor from Spokane, Waah., had
been robbed and murdered.
Yeager checked out at a local
hotel yesterday afternoon and has
not lieen seen since. Late yester
day a scrawled note was turned
over to the police by a man who
found It in the station here.
The note said: "Jim,” we got
Yeager this morning. He will
never see Spokane again. He sure
had a nice pile of money on him."
As the handwriting in the note
resembled Yeager’s hotel signa
ture, the local Investigators were
somewhat skeptical about a mur
der theory.
