BROCOLI GROWERS

SEATTLE, (U P )— A lot or
pretty bathing girjp are going to
break the law in Seattle thia sum
mer, -but it Is somewhat uncer
tain just what the city is going
to do about It.
The type of bathing suit worn
by, most fair bathers in genpre|,
and by competitive girl swlmmefa
In particular, is definitely "agin
the law.”
The law, and It is the only one
on the municipal books govern
ing 1>athing apparel, plainly states
that if even a fraction .of bart
thigh is displayed above a dimp
led knee, the bather is subject to
fine and imprisonment.
The law was enacted in 1907.
If the girls are going to obey
the law they will have to dig up
some old style l>ooks of nearly
two decades ago and see Just what
was being worn.
So far indifferent policy offic
ials have made no effort to en
force the Regulation.
Bathers don’t seem to be blush
ing with modesty, spectators are
not complaining, so the cops are
saying:
“‘Why worry?”
