Miss Palm er is the more seriously injured, although attending physicians said they were hopeful that both would re­ cover. Hurtles Into Ditch But meager rejiorts of the accident were received here. I t was indicated, however, th a t the car, an Essex coach, got out of control and h u rt­ led into a ditch. It toppled over and both women were thrown beneath the wreck­ age. The injured women wore rushed to a hospital at Bed Bluff, where it was at first •feared Miss Palmer was dy­ ing. Reports received by an­ xious friends of the tw o prominent Ashland residents this morning were to the ef­ fect that Miss Palmer- was still in an unconscious con­ dition. Miss Chamberlain had regained consciousness, although she was lapsing into a senu-conwiwis state at intervals, Friend« Alarmed Mrs. MacCracken ..and ..other close friends of the two women wanted to lush to the bodside of the injured au|0lsts, but Miss Chamberlain sent word by hospi­ tal authorities, urging against it. Miss Chamberlain and Miss Pal­ mer left hero yesterday morning on a brief vacation .trip to Cali­ fornia. They had planned on reaching Chico by last night.
