purehase of the Chautauqua bond­
ing from the city of Ashland by
the Shrlners o f HUlah Temple got
under way today when the city
gave the shrine a five-months'op­
tion on the property. The option
was authorised 'by unanimous vote
of the council at a special meet
ing late Saturday afternoon.
The movement to purchase the
Chautauqua building has been nn

and to being especially urged by

posed alteration of the bullying

These
drawings call for the expenditure
of approximately 120,000 In ex­
tensions and Improvements. They
would Include one large room, 130
by 70 fleet w ith hardwood floor,
a main auditorium, a stage, heat­
ing plant and other Improvements.

Shrlners throughout Southern
Oregon are much interested in the
proposed and are hopeful that the
project can be financed in time
to take up the option given by
the city. Much of the support Is
coming fro m ' shrlners who live
outside of Ashland.

ly a shrine temple, the building
would be so arrsnged that It
could be used for many legitimate
public functions, including con­
ventions and other meetings of
general public Interest.
