Feb. 26. — Popularisation
of the automobile has in-
creased Juvenile crime in
California by 20 percent,
according to O. H. Close,
superintendent of the state
reform school a t Preston.
H e said he had kept a re-
cord of Juvenile delln-

10 years and found that
most of the crimes of
minors had been in con-*

Liquor Is still a con-

been no great incroase
since the advent of pro-

California moved today to close
Tia Juana and Mexicali as parts

"This would mean that no com

he said. “ Although the value of
commodities sold by C alifornia

to many millions annually there
is no reason why we should co

MEETING DEADLOCKED
Offer

By Klamath
“ Big hearted” Klamath Falls le
perfectly willing to let Ashland
help finance the proposed Klam

bureau
and
branch office at the junction of
the Pacific and Ashland-Klamath
highway, but it does not propose
to halt its plan to divert traffic
from the
Pacific highway
to
Klamath county. ‘
This was the answer given to
a chamber of commerce delega
tion which conferred at Klamath
Falls yesterday with the Klam
ath chamber committee which is
sponsoring the branch office move
ment.
May Meet Again
The Ashland delegation indi
cated that residents .of this city
would not consider such a pro
posal, although it is possible an
other conference w ill be held In
an effort to iron out the difficul
ties and possible misunderstand
ing.
The Ashland chamber, proposed
that Klamath establish a branch
tourist information bureau in the
Ashland chamber of commerce,
but here, again, the “big-hearted
ness" of the Klamath folks assert
ed Itself.
They felt there was
not room in the local chamber
quarters for such an office and
they wouldn’t for the world think
of crowding In on Ashland.
For Klamath Only
A t the outset or the martin*,
W illiam McNoaly, one of the
Klamath spokesmen, confessed
openly that the branch office pro
posal was being made in a de
termination to d iv rtt traffic from
the highway to Klamath county.
Other communities, It was agreed,
could put in their road pamph
lets and
other publicity,
but
Klam ath would devote her time
to getting what tourists it coujd.
According
to
reports
from
Klam ath the financing plans of the
Klam ath chamber are not meet

la barely possible that it w ill be
