day In politics yesterday when
Mrs. Bertha Landes, twice a
member of the city council and
at preseat president of that body,
led the primary field by over a
thousand rotas in the race for
nomination as mayor.
Her (nearest, opponent was
Mayor Edwin J. Brown, who
will oppose her In tbs general
election on March 9.
The primary was a clear cat
fight between the two all the
way, with the “open
town“
forces backing Mayor Brown and
the “closed town“ faction sup­
porting Mrs. Landes.
