similar to the one held in Ashland Thursday evening,
are certain to be of real and lasting benefit to the officers
as well as the public.
Time was — and it is not far distant — when petty
ijalousies of peace officers in various cities not only ham­
pered efficient arid prompt enforcement. of the law but
aided many times in the escape of dartgerous criminals.

So far as officers of Southern Oregon are concerned,
the old order has changed, and a Spirit of helpfulness
and of cooperatimi is now manifested by all. The get-
