Dear Sir:
.> . .
That little statement of yours, that “ drivers in Ash
land have one signal for everything. . All the driver be
hind them knows is that they are going to do something”
summed up.the driving conditions almost perfectly.
Why, in the name of all that is public, when a driver
drops his arm to the side o f the car, he should make a left
turn, is more than I can see. But they do it, and what is
more, the women drivers-can’t be blamed for it aU. The
men are just as bad, if not worse than the women in this
respect.
A little campaign, to educate the public in the proper
use of signals to warn those behind them, would not go a
bit amiss.
Yours sincerely,
»
Auntie Ashland.

Yonr talk at the Kiwanis clnb4uncheon yesterday
was wonderful, and contained such sound business sense
that I know every merchant and business man present
obtained a lot of good from it, and, if they will practice
yonr advice, will obtain better results than they ever have
in the past.
When yon said that to induce jteople to patronize
home industry, the products must be equal in quality and
price with what thé consumer has lieen getting, and that
the local merchant must carry a stock of goods capable
of meeting the average call, showed many present why
they had not been obtaining the home trade they should.

Circuit Judge C. M. Thomas,
Dear Charlie:
,
See where yon have east great gobs of gloom over the
lioys who inhabit the jail house maintained hv the feonnty,
by declaring that the trusty jobs are to lie vacated, and
are to be allowed to remain vacated. Fine idea.
For quite a while it has been almost a pleasure to be
an inmate of the eounty bastile. When a man, by a short
period of good behavior, could obtain a jolt as a trusty,
eonld get outside the bars, he was not servftg the sent
ence imposed upon him by the judge who prononneed that
sentence.

S o u th e r n Oregon Gas Company,
Gentlemen:
Your efforts to improve the gas service in Ashland
deserve the support of the people of the city, and the
manner in which , you are going abont things, I believe,
will earn this support
Your work in installing the new gas pressure tank,
which will keep the pressure at a mean level at all tiroes
will eliminate one of the biggest objections local people
have had to gas itf the past. W ith this means of assuring
•a steady flow of gas, you have taken a big step toward
the universal use of gas in Ashland.
Service in the local office has become many, many
times better than anything we have had in the past. The
courteous, effecient service rendered nt the office is win
ning many people to your side.
Ashland needs gas, just as she needs other utilities,
and I am glad to see you furnishing her with it is snch
an efficient manner.

Auntie Ashland
