FISH BILL AGAIN
TOURIST TRAVEL IN
BEFORE SENATE
FEBRUARY IS GOOD
During the first week in Feb
ruary, a total of 44 out-of-state
automobiles were registered at
th e cham ber of commerce office
here, the records this morning
showed.
This average of more
than six cars per day is greater
than the average for Jan u ary of
this year, and will somewhat ex
ceed the total for February, 1924,
should the to u rist travel continue
a t the same ra te during the re
m ainder of th e m onth as it did
during the first week.
SALEM, Feb. 9— The big battle
of the legislature opened this
afternoon when the fish bill giv
ing the appointm ent of the com
mission to the Board of Control,
came up as a special order of
business. I t is believed the pro
ponents have 20 votes lined up in
the Senate to pass the bill and
over-ride th e Governor’s veto. His
veto of the Bend wateir supply
bill only made hfe posit'on more
precarious.

GAVE CITY, Ky„ Feb. 9. —
M ilitary authorities, guarding the
cave in which Floyd Collins is
imprisoned here, predicted arrests
to be made within 24 hours, as
the web of evidence was uncov
ered in a swiftly moving inquiry
which was opened in order to
run to earth ugly rum ors and in
sinuations in connection with the
im prisonm ent of Collins.
The
name of the suspect was withheld
by the authorities, but is is in
tim ated th a t the man under sus
picion had rubbed shoulders with
scores of earnest rescue workers
gathered here a t the risk of their
lives, who are laboring for the
relief of the stricken man, in the
name of hum anitarism .
John Geralds, reputed "buddy”
of Collins was cross examined for
facts regarding the theories ad
vanced which label this tragedy
as a huge, ghastly fraud. It is
thought th a t the entire imprison
m ent might be ia "fra u d ” as a
giant publicity stu n t for the cave
and th a t Collins, the imprisoned
man was only am actor in the
scheme. According to this theory,
those supporting it declare that
food has been taken to Col.’ins
through another entrance to the
cave, which is known to but a
few.
A nother theory advance is that
Collins wias actually trapped in
the cave, and was either deliber
ately m urdered as he lay helpless
under the huge boulder, or that
1ft? was virtually killed by the
ham pering of the rescue efforts
which were made.
W ord which was brought out by
radio tests th a t Collins is still
breathing was overshadowed by
the gigantic probability th at the
captive’s death — if he is found
dead—tspells m urder.
