Continental train s are bringing
hordes of Americans to London
from P aris and the Summer heat
of Italy. Even the prospects of
rain in England fail to dampen
the ardor of Americans who have
attem pted to brave the heat of
Southern Europe. Many Ameri
cans are in Scotland for the shoot
ing season.
Scottish shooting lodges have
been rented to Americans for huge
figures. Mr. and Mrs. Burling,
of W hite Plains, N. Y., have taken
Foray Lodge, in Perthshire, and
not far away are Mr. and Mrs. C.
Ramsdell, of Boston and Chicago
who have rented a moor from the
Marquis of Graham.
Mrs. H arry Brown, of P itts
burgh, who has been a success
ful entree into London society,
has decided not to take a lodge,
but will make a short trip into
Scotland. It is reported th a t
Mrs. Brown’s three m onths’ lease
of Norfolk House, London, Is
costing her $10,000.
London is a city of millionaires,
thanks to the American tourists.
Every luxury is being sought by
the American tourists from the
m inute they leave th eir ship at
Southampton until they depart.
Southam pton’s boys about town
— the lads who always gather to
see the train s come in and go opt
— are astounded a t the latest in
novation. A luxurious cream-
colored coach is now added to
every boat train. The boys at
first thought it was a royal coach
for a royal visitor, but they dis
covered it’s only a luxury coach
provided for those arrivals who
are going to the luxury hotels—
