Education Pays in Leader
ship, Influence and Honors
An investigation published by the United States Bureau of
Education shows th at of all the people in the United States who
have performed distinguished service and received high honors
th at there was:
I
One person out of each 150,000 who had no schooling.
The above lines show the comparative chances of no school
ing and with the different grades of education. Parents who
give their children a common school education give them four
times the chance to become a leader and receive distinction that
the child with no schooling has. Those who give their children
a high school education give them 87 times the chance, and the
E vents who sacrifice and give their children a college educa
tion give them more than 800 times the chance of the child
without schooling.—E. J. Bodman in Banker-Farm er.

The goddess of fame and for
tune has beckoned to four young
girls who were winners in a
“ Serial Contest” in Los Angeles
recently, and as a result screen
careers now aw ait these lucky
young ladies.
They are A nnette Moser, Lenore
Vaughan, Catherine Jelks, and
K atherine Jay.
Their “ Big O pportunity” came
J in the form of an offer to appear
with Jack P idtford in “ The End
of the W orld.”
“ ‘The End of the W orld’ is
going to be the beginning of the
world for these girls, I hope,”
said Jack.
Under the supervision of Jack
and Tom J. Geraghty, producer
of the picture, tests of the con
test w inners were made at the
Pickford-Fairbanks Studios, and
they proved so, satisfactory th at
it was decided to use all of the
girls instead of ju st one, as had
been originally planned.
They

I ciety in the picture.
