shows lor u;en only. Of course there were agricultural
and domestic science exhibits for women and hot dogs,
ice eream cones and peanuts for the children.
A visir to a lair in 1924 will offer proof that fairs
are becoming cieaner ami better. The cause may be found
partialh in restrictive laws but more fully in the will of
the public which by its patronage makes the fair possible.
'Phe public no longer goes to the fair to gamble and de
bauch, but to be entertained ami iniormed. There is noth
ing that more intrigues city folks than exhibits of live
stock, farm products and old fashioned quilts and the
county lair is about the qnly place which affords them
this annual treat.
1 lie county lair once brought Lie ‘"iniquitous city ”
into the “ sticks ’ but the automobile now provides that
need by taking the country into the city not only after
the completion of the harvest but every Saturday night
or oftener.
