do not prac

best time to begin
is the
present moment. Tomorrow will
bring its difficulties, its problems
and its temptations.
Nothing
whatever can be gained by put
ting off the day of a beginning in
thrift.
It should be borne in mind also
the amount of money one saves at
the beginning is not of importance.
The chief factor in the process is
making the actual start. After
this has been accomplished, one’s
own enthusiasm will assure the
saving of the largest possible
sums. It is well to make the mat
ter of saving money a part of
one's regular routine, Save sys
tematically.
It also is well to keep a record
of one’s expenditures. In brief,
try to run your personal affairs
with much the same accuracy and
careful accountancy methods that
are practiced by wisely adminis
tered business corporations.
•M ake the start in thrift today.
Do not be even discouraged if the
first sum you save is only a few
pennies.

Here are five of the prize-win
ning recipes in a recent contest
among New England housewives.
They are well worth trying.
Green Olive Lilies
Spread butterthins evenly with
cream cheese. Place one-half of
stuffed olive on center of each.
These look pretty and are de
licious served with tea or coffee.
Boston Girls’ Sandwich
One slice each of white and
brown bread, cut thin and butter
ed, cover with lettuce leaf, spread
well with mashed cold baked
beans, thickly strewn with finely
chopped Spanish green olives.
Olive Tart Salad
Four tart apples, three-fourths
cup Spanish green olives, one
stalk celery, one-half cup walnut
meats.
Cut olives, apples and
celery into small pieces, moisten
with mayonnaise and cover with
chopped nuts. Serve in a nest of
lettuce.
Norwegian Sandwich
To one can sardines add one
tablespoon chopped green olives,
juice of one-half lemon, dash pa
prika and grain of salt. Make a
paste of all.
Spread between
graham brea ! sliced thin.
Celery, Clive* and Cheese
Chop one small-sized bottle of
stuffed olives. Mix with pimento
cheese. Salt and pepper to taste.
Place the mixture in the grooves
of the celery.
