te n a n t Belvin M aynard, in te rn a tio n ­
ally known as th e “ Flying P a rso n .”
was in sta n tly killed w ith two com ­
panions, when his airp lan e crashed
to the e a rth a t the fair ground here,
a t the end of a ta il spin.
The “ F lying P a rso n ” was a d raw ­
ing card for T rem bly's flying circus,
w hich was perform ing. W ith L ieu­
te n a n t W oods and Louis M inetti,
two pilots, M aynard w ent up in his
m achine, and circled Bald m ountain,
near the city.
R eturning, M aynard attem p ted to
m ake tw o loops and then the tail
spin, b u t m s judged his distance,
and as he straig h ten ed o ut for the
last tim e the rig h t tip of his 111a-
chine stru c k th e ground. The plane
crashed into a post and was dem ol­
ished.
