Motion Picture Producers Are N ot so Much Interested
in the Millions of Dollars Invested in the
Industry, as They Are in Morals and
Education of Children, Says Hays.
In an eloquent and forceful ap
peal to the public to have faith in
motion pictures, Will H. Hays, head
of the Motion Picture Producers’
and D istributors’ Association, as
the guest of the Los Angeles Cham
ber of Commerce at th eir weekly
luncheon at the Alexandria Hotei,
said th at the evils, if any, now ex
isting in Hollywood shall be elim
inated. He declared th at the one
had influence in the film colony Is
talk.
"F or the life of me, I cannot see
the horros of Hollywood,” said Mr.
Hays. “We m ust remove the lies
about the m dustry. Ours Is a duty
to youth. We are not so much in
terested in the millions of dollars
invested in the industry, as we are
in the m illions of children whose
m orals and education are invested
in it.
“I earnestly ask and hope to re
ceive the advice and cooperation of
the public. One way for the public
to help us make good pictures is
very easy, and th a t Is to support
good pictures.”
During Mr. Hays’ to u r of the
Hollywood colony, he visited the
W arner B rothers studios. Here he
met Freckle-faced Wesley Barry,
who stopped work on his latest
H arry Rapf production, "Rags to
Riches,” to shake hands w ith the
Judge Landis of the screen.

Ironized Yeast
Do ycu anse in the mc<rning,as unre-

body, brain and nerves nil run down?
This terrible weakness which afflicts
so many may be blamed on the lack of

Yeast three times a day. Everyone
knows that yeast is a v.: mderful build

Friday and
Look over the young executives who
direct the retail and the manufacturing
businesses of Xew York.
A surprisingly large percentage of them
have reached their goals by advocating
advertising, by directing the advertising
and by making the advertising work.
If yours is a business which doesn’t ad
vertise. don’t close your ears to the story
of your young men. Help them to think
it out—listen to their plans and their
hopes. Add the counsel of years of ex
perience to the minds of the men who are
planning the future of your business.
Did you ever expect that iron could be
advertised profitably? Few advertising
men did. Did you ever expect to eat trade
marked grapefruit ? It is an accomjXished
fact at thousands of breakfasts this morn
ing. Did you ever think the dairymen
could profitably use the forces of publicity
or that a barber-shop* could grow to
twenty-five, largely by the power of the
written word and an ideal of sendee.
The coming executives realize that a
business exists, in the last analysis, in the
minds of its customers, rather than in four
walls and a roof, and, perhaps, that is why
they are the coming executives.
