TAG, YOU’RE IT!
(New Version)
Do you recall that good old game of tag we used to play?
We’d chase and tag each other ’round the barn the live
long day.
And try to make some fellow “It” and steal the base
he’d lost,
When he'd yell, “ Hey! You can’t get me, I’ve got my
fingers crossed.”
We have all grown up to manhood and we’re still
playing tag. Bill has a great big dry goods store; you
ought to hear him brag; a big card in the window says
he’s se'ling out at cost, but when you pin him down
you’ll find Bill had his fingers crossed.
We sent John up to Washington to look out
our needs; he pledged us every thing on earth and
)f garden seeds; we got the seeds, but somehow all
)ther vows were lost, but he just says, “Oh, Heck!
nan, I had my fingers crossed.”
