ASTORIA, Or., Dec. 2 0 .— Har­
old, 12, and H ilving, 10, children
of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hilgren,
livin g on a ranch near here, were
burned to death last night when
the fam ily hom e caught fire dur­
ing the parent’s absence, and was
raxed to th e ground. The tragedy'
is an indirect toll exacted by the
freezing weath«#- experienced here,
the parents having been calld to
a neighboring ranch to aid in the
thaw ing out of w ater pipes frozen
yesterday afternoon.

has not been ascertained.
