FARM POINTERS THAT POINT
Farm Bureau, O. A. C.: Jose
phine county farm ers are organiz
ing to buy and sell cooperatively.
They will buy, store, m anufacture,
ship and sell farm products and
supplies, among other activities.
Membership is open only to mem
bers of the county farm bureau,
and the fee is $5 per member.
Home D em onstration, O. A. C .:
Pressure cooker sand canners are
among the greatest tim e and fuel
savers in the home. It takes only
35 m inutes to process peas in can
ning in a good canner, whereas it
takes full three hours in the open
hot w ater bath. A tough old
rooster will cook tender under
pressure- in 30 minutes. An en
tire meal may be cooked in a sin
gle cooker in about one-third the
time it takes to cook it in open
vessels.
Club Work. O. A. C. The Kent
Cookery Club of Sherman county,
of five girls made enough money
by cooked food sales to send two

sum m er school. They made their
own food products.
Bacteriology, O. A. C.! Canned
goods even slightly discolored or
off norm al appearance should not
be tasted, as a very little toxin
of this bacteria will cause serious
illness or even death. H eating al!
parts of the contents of the can to
a boiling point will destroy the
bacteria, so th a t the product can
he fed safely to poultry.
Poultry, O. A. C.: The Oregon
pen of five college barred rocks

in the W estern W ashington con
