It is reported that the Patrons of
Husbandry — the Grangers — have
voted unanimously in favor of the
retention of the anti-strike clause
in the Cummins railroad bill. The
very fact that labor unions protest
against enactment of the anti-strike
provision is evidence enough that
whenever it suits their pleasure they
will strike to enforce their demands.
The protest of the unions against the
provision should cause the rest of
the people to insist upon its enact
ment for protection of their own
rights and the welfare of the nation.
Even though a strike may never be
called, the possibility of a strike
is a constant menace which every
business man must consider in every
undertaking and in every contract
he may take. That uncertainty is
one of the hazards of every business
that depends upon
transportation
for its continuance.—Topeka Capital.

ought to be discarded for the ulti-
mate adoption of Roman characters.
While the reduction to 2600 charac
ters still leaves the Japanese child
at a great educational disadvantage,
yet it is conceded it is a great step
toward the final divorce from the
traditional oriental characters.
It was contended that when school
children in other countries were
ready to enter high school, Japanese
children were just finishing the mem
orizing of the 5000 characters and
therefore just able to read and write
and no more.

To produce a perfect flour for every purpose, a flour that will make
cakes and pastry as well as bread, choicest Eastern hard wheats and choicest
Western wheats must be brought together in proper proportions and those
proportions remain uniform.
Floors always become worn quicker
than any other surface in the home.
The Western wheats and the Eastern hard wheat must be tempered
