Shell's have enjoyed a visit from
Mrs. Shell's son-in-law, H. McDonald,
of Bend, Ore.
Claud Myers returned Sunday from
Kalaina, where he has been visiting
his aged parents.
It Is reported that R. Loves, P. De
maris and O. Kosar have purchased
B Star car jointly.
J. C. Ballenger left Tuesday for
Seaside, Mrs. Ballenger and Maxine
will return with him.
J. T. Healey and family motored
to Arlington Monday. Dorothy Board
man accompanied them.
Mr. and Mrs. E. K. Mulkey and
family were dinner guests at the
Healey home last Thursday.
Jack Oorhani has been on (he sick
list this week. Too much picnic.
Win. Lower left Sunday for his old
home In Missouri for a short visit.
Mrs. Dlngmon and Mrs. O'Donnell
drove to Irrigon Tuesday for grapes.

Sunday taking Mr. Root back to his
work there.
Mr. and Mrs. Dlngmon went to the
picnic Sunday with the Russells and
all ate dinner with the Wicklanders

Aid Sept. 3 at the King home.

left this week for their home in Mc
Minnvllle after spending the sum
mer at the home of her sister, Mrs
Tom Hendricks.
Chaffees are dismantling the big
hay warehouse which they purchased
some years ago and plan to build a
home on their lots near those of
Harry Murchie,

Mr. and Mrs. J. McCarter hav
moved from the pumping plant, to
Hood River for the time being. They
have rented a place at Boardman on
which they will move later.
Since the nearby markets 'lave b -come
more cluttered vith outside
stuff, a car of Irrigon watermelons
including about forty crates, Pride of
Irrigon cantaloupes was shipped to
Portland Sunday. The reports are
that they have taken the top price in
Portland same as former years anil
the surplus cantaloupes are now be
ing shipped to Portland to supply the
better trade there. This means much
as the government reports show any
where from 6 to 20 cars of canta
loupes in Portland market daily and
usually more of watermelons. The
Inferior quality stuff will not pay for
freight or express charges. The Dalles
melons have made their appearances
in some of the closer towns but are
not selling readily on account of their
small size and quality.
