The Ladle Aid met Wednesday at
the church. A quilt was tied and
the ladies were all pleasantly sur
prised (o have refreshments served
by Mrs. Harry Warren. Some ba
zaar plans were discussed and the in
vitation again mentioned by Mrs.
Crawford for all the women to be
guests at her home on Oct. 17th,
when the West End ladies will en
tertain town and East End. Every
one is asked to be present at this all
day meeting.
Miss Zoe Hadley was hostess at a
jolly party last Saturday, when a
number of her old friends were asked
to he!p celebrate her 18th birthday.
She was the recipient of many pretty
gifts from her friends.
Mrs. K. F. Klltl has been having
King, and the King family were

Neis Chrlattanson returned last
week from Portland, where he went
to consult a physician concerning his
Injury, II was found unnecessary
to have an operation and he is great
ly Improved.
Mamie Hango left last week for
Hood River where she will work in
the fruit. Friends here will be in
terested to know that Mr. and Mrs.
Chas. Hango are again grandparents,
their daughter at Kelso being the
mother of a new son.

Mrs. Egwert of The Dalles has
come to Boardman to keep house for
W. H. Qllbretb and children.
E. T. Broyles, Belle Packard and
Edna Broyles returned last week
from a short trip to Colfax, Wash.

Mr. and Mrs. Tagg, parents of Mrs.
King, andthe King family were
guests at the Christianson home on
Tuesday for dinner.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen were hosts at
a delicious dinner on Sunday to Nick
Faler and wife and Myrtle McNeil.
Norma Gibbons was Mildred's guest
at that time also.
Mrs. Will Davis left Monday Tor
her home in Portland, alter spend
ing a few days at the Balph Davis
home helping care for Mrs. Ralph
Davis, who was quite ill for a few
days but is greatly improved now.
Mrs. Clen Brown and two young
est children returned this week from
Walla Walla and nearby points,
where they visited for a few days.
Mr. Bechdolt left Monday after a
fHort visit In Boardman. He vis
ited at the Rands and Johnson
homes.
Miss Myrtle McNeil, who Is teach-
Mng on upper Hutter creek, left last
Wednesday morning accompanied by
Mr. and Mrs. Nick Faler lor Port
land, where they visited until Sun
day. Mr. Faler went down to con
sult a doctor about his back, which
Mr. Mulkey and Mr. Griggs at
tended a meeting of the High Sc:ool
Athletic association for this district
last Saturday.
The meeting was held at Arlington
and about 20 men were there from
high schools in Gilliam. Morrow,
Wheeler and Sherman counties.
At this meeting officers were elect
ed for the coining year and i; antes
scheduled for the football season.
The list of schools that will he rep
resented in this disiriei are as fol
lows: Heppner, Lexington, one,
Boardman, Hardman. Condon. Ar
lington, Wasco, Moro and Fossil.

Glen Hadlejr, Everett Hadley and
Mr. Williamson went to Hardman
and vicinity on a hunting and pleas
ure trip last week.
The Kullinger's, who have been
visitors at the Garrett home for no
past week, left Saturday for their
home at Eagle Creek.
The high school and some of the
'grade boys have cleared a ttew foot-i
ball field south of the school build
ing. This is much more convenient
for practice than the old grounds,
and adds to the appearance of the
school premises.

Basil Cramer and Dale Cox left
school Thursday. They are going to
Portland,
Leila Barlow, a freshman, left
school last Friday. She will enter
school at Heppner.
Earl Cramer sold his truck to
Lauren Cummins this week. Mr.
Cramer and family plan to leave this
week for the Valley.
