His s'kull was fractured in the accident, causing meningitis. He was born in Polk county, Ore gon in 1865, being 57 years old at the time of his death. When a boy he came with his parents to Putter Creek where he lived almost contin-l uously since, thus being a pioneer of the Echo country.
