Lawton this morning took a battalion f the Fourteenth regiment nnd two com panics of the TwentyWlrnt reglmen( to locate the rtdud's battery, and then iwb guns of the Slxfh artillery and four mountain guns were planted ag.ilnst It. Th,. rebels had a large gun, from which thev were firing homemade cannlster und bombs loaded with nails, and two smaller guns. Their shooting was most accurate. ANOTHER CYCLONE The Town of Herman, Nebraska, Completely Wiped Out. Fatalities of a Hunjrtd or More and Wreckage Strewn in Every Direction. OMAHA, Jun 13 A tornado struck the town of Herman, In Washington county, this evening und wiped the place out of existence. Herman Is a place of about 3.D inhabi. tants In the extreme northern part of Washington county. It is on tne line ol the nilcago. S:. Paul. Minneapolis and Omaha railway. A conductor on the evening train from Sioux City passed through tho town not long after the storm and he says not a building is left standing. He himself counted 12 dead bodLa lyiii In the streets. The iatal ltU will undoubtedly run up to UXi, If not higher. A scclal train has left Rlair. the co untyseat. for the scene of the dls. aster, carrying nungeong and all needed supplies. The wires are all down north of Herman and It Is not known how much further norfh the storm went, but reports are coming In to the effect that a large portion of the country north of Herman la laid waste. The entire eastern portion of Nebraska Is being swept by a rain, wind and electric storm tonight. The streets of Omaha are flooded and the p'.ay of the lightning Is something fearful. Advices received by the Bee up to 11 o'clock twnlght state that every building In Herman was destroyed except the pubilo school and one small dwelling, both of which are on the outskirts. The force of the wind was terrific and scarce ly one plejo of the many structures destroyed was left Intact. W risked buildings and broken furn!. ture. scarcely recognizable In 1U dilapi dated condition, are strewn all around, while dead bodies lie In many pluees, the corpses badly disfigured and some of them hardly recognizable. The moans of the Injured, mingled with the calls of the resetters as they pursue their human. Itarlati work In the dark by the flickering gleams of lanterns. The relief train from Hlalr arrived about anhour after the storm and the work of picking up the wounded was begun. In the course of an hour the train pulled out for Blair with 95 Injured on board. They were taken o Blair as there) is absolutely no place left at Her man at Which treatment could be ad. ministered. All the citizen of Blair have thrown open their houses to the wounded.
