Capital of tlO.000,000 to Be Established to Conduct Operations of the Move ment of the Zionists. NEW YORK. March 30. In pursuance of resolutions adopted at the Zionist con gress In Basle, Switxerlat'.d, In August of last year, subscription lists were opened today In London and New York for the Jewish colonist trust, which la to be es taolishet; with a i.relim'iary capital of tlO.OOOMX) to conduct the financial opera. tlons of tho Zlonlrt movement. The sub-1 scrlptlon lists will remain open for a month, In which time It Is expected the capital will be subscribed many times over. The trust Is to be known on the contl. neni of Europe as the Jewish colonial bank (limited.) The preliminary capital of $10,000,000. which It is Intended shall be Increased later to KO.000.000, is to be dl vlded Into 1.999.900 ordinary shares of $6 each, and 100 "founders' " shares, also of S5 each. Founders' shares are to be held jointly by the. members of the council and their nominees, and, while they will not par ticipates in the profits of the bank, theln holder wilt, In all matters affecting; en. terprlses to advance the Zionist move ment, have an equal voting power to that of all other 'Shareholders present at a general meeting. The purchase of thl provision Is to prevent the trust turn ing from Its primary object that of aiding and promoting Zionism Into pure ly commercial channels. In matters outside of the ordinary banking business the council will b. rep. resented by a board of three governors, nominated by It, In ordinary commercial matters, however, the authority of the directors shall be supreme. It Is expected that the syndicate has also bought the Brighton Beach hotel. out of it aB not a word of additional In. formation wis contributed from any of ficial source. The only authoritative sratemeu: came from the navy department, giving a brief dispatch from Admiral Kautx. This thtew no light on the latest outbreak, and, owing to the tangle of dates. It served only to further involve th. mys tery. In view of the fact that the fighting was widespread and long-continued, and that the foreign offices at London and Berlin had been officially advised of the affair, it was regarded as somewhat strange that the state and navy departments should be entirely without Information. The demonstration in Samoa is regret ted, but the opinion Is expressed that Kautx actei' on what was his best Judg ment and Information. The state depart-, men acknowledges thut t ) agreement can be reached under a treaty In which all three powers do not agree, and hopes some settlement of the diffi culty may be brought about when It b?. comes apparent present conditions cannot exist indefinitely. Kautx acted within his instructions, and there Is no doubt, with the facts now at hand, that he will be sustained by the United States government. s .. j IRON AND STEEL MARKETS ARE QUIETING DOWN. Buyers Withdrawing Frim the Markets to Test Present Prices Steel Hoop Concerns Consolidate. NE WYORK. March SO.-In Its review of trade conditions, the Iron Age says: In many branches the Iron and steel markets have quieted down simewhat. Thi.i la du. In certain lines to th. with drawal of sellers pending the completion of arrangements for a consolidation of interests. In other branches It Is due to th fact that buyers do not share the confidence of makers In the mainten ance of present prices and are beginning to test them by withdrawal from the market. Many are now buying from hand to mouth. In the foundry Iron markets business ha quieted down considerably, although reports from southern markets report a further advance. Opinions vary greatly as to the capacity becoming available through th. blowing In of new plants. There Is no doubt that every means is being exhausted to get idle furnaces Into line. In Bessemer pig the market has now been reestablished by the sales of the association at $H.30. valley furnace. The report that the sale of 13,000 tons to the National Steel Company and other had exhausted the supply from that source is pronounced absurd.
