The Managing Committee of the Regatta and Carnival desire to inform the public that arrange
meats have been made with the following business houses iu Astoria to act as polling places for the
selection of "Queen of Carnival," to-wit: . : .

The above merchants have kindly allowed the Committee a liberal per, centage oa all sales made
at their respective places of business from July 25th to August 10th, inclusive, provided that the pur
chasers request the privilege of voting at the time of inukiug purchases. , . , , " - .;. I
To each purchaser, so requesting, there will be furnished a blank. ballot, of which the -following is. a

Each purchaser at this store is entitled to vote at the rate of one vote for
each io cent purchase; and should observe that the number representing the
votes cast is- properly written upon the blank to be deposited.
Votes mav also be purchased from the business houses mentioned at the rate of five cents per vote.

and should observe that the number representing the votes cast is properly
written upon the blank to be deposited.
Tho person of whom a purchase is made, or votes are bought, will insist upon the blank ballot
the figures representing the number of votes, and the purchaser will write thereon the name of tho
lady, marnett or single, tor whom it is desired to vote. , . ,
1 he ballot, when completed, must then be deposited in the tin ballot box by the voter, in the
presenco of the proprietor or employe of the store.
Alter caretul consideration the Committee, have decidod to open the ballot boxes from time to time
and announce tho result of the voting.
