that 1f Clatsop hay. raised along the river
and seashore Is not as good as Willam
ette valley It Is because It Is not culti
vated enough.. While the salt water
ranchers are "learning to produce hay
that will meet the requirements of the
city departments, let the Nehalem valley
men go Into It more extensively. There
the best hay In the state Is produced,
and with a '.ltt more pressure r mils
can be had so that It can be marketed.
Only a few years ago Clatsop county
butter and cheese were of Inferior quali
ty, but the farmers on the plains began
a systematic method of manufacture
and dairy cultivation until their products
are today equal to any in the state. They
can to the same thing with hay for horse
feed.
