At the lajit special meeting ordinal. ces
were passed authorizing the h'suanee of
Ihe warrants for damages and benelltj to
the property-owners interested, and when
this Is done little else remains to do, save
to publish the regular notice o! the coun
cil's intention to Improve the slr.-et. There
curi be no question but whut the mayor
will sIkh the ordinances already passed
in relation to the matter, unless, as ru
mored, there are still further legal defects
in the ordinances as drawn. At this
is the third attempt to get this much
needed improvement in shape, it is to t.e
hoped that no further obstacles will be
discovered.
While the work Is being done it should
be dor thoroughly. It is not alone enough
to open Commercial street to Twentieth,
or barely to the dejiot grounds, but it
should be run through to Twenty-third
street, the cast end of the depot, and
then Twenty-third street should be Im
proved to Excha.ue street, so that the
eltisens of East Astoria may be given
equul facilities for conveniently reaching
the railroad station.
The demand for these street Improve
ments is imperative, a::d the public can
not longer be put off by the flimsy ex
cuses heretofore urired by councilmen.

THE OBJECTION XOT GOOD.
, There are people who have objections

Is Your
Throat Weak?
Your throat is weak. Any
unusual exposure or quick
change in temperature
causes roughness and un
easiness. Sometimes you
have a feeling of tightness
as if some foreign body
were there. You can treat
it with troches and washes,
but you don't reach the seat
of the trouble. Throat
weakness is a symptom of
more general disturbance.
Scott's Emulsion of Cod
liver Oil does cure weak
throats by nourishing and
strengthening the system.
