these speak loudly as to what Is the mat
ter with Astoria, and it really looks like
there never can be any progreBB her
until the Almighty either sends an earth
quake to destroy the town lots upon
which our citizens depend to make them
millionaires, or else visits the town with
some sort of plague which will boom the
price of real estate on account of the
extraordinary demand created for good,
eligible cemetery sites.
The Portland Telegram says no one
outside of Currant's Immediate family
circle besides his attorneys professes to
believe In his innocence of the murder
of Iilanche l.amont and Minnie Williams,
and those are only saved from the uni
