Mr. Johnson the well known florist of
Astoria, who has gained national repu
tation by his scientific researches, has
returned to the city, bringing with him
many rare plants and specimens from
iis recent trip In Southern Oregon.
Among them is a snow plant, which Is
found near Grant's Pass. This is one
of the rarest plants known, and the spec
imen Is a particularly fine one. It has
leen placed on exhibition In Conn s drug

Yseterday workmen took to plerer the
motor recently purchased by th-e rallrojil
from the Taylor's, and the wheels will
be shipped to the shops of the O. C. &
E. road at Yajulna, where they will be
planed down, while contracts will be let
today for the general overhauling of the
motor and two cars at Warrenton. it
Is expected that the work will be com
pleted in ten days' time. General Master

Is here to superintend the repairs.

Strikers In Folsom Prison Reduced to
Order on Short Notice.
Sacramento, June 2. Warden Aull, of
Folsom prison, got a rumor today of the
Intention of 3oo convicts working at tl
roek crusher to revolt and refuse to
work. He secured the names of seven
ring-leaders und gave orders that at the
first sign of revolt the guards should
shoot down the seven leaders. Tho con
victs collapsed at tho unexpected turn
of affairs and made no attempt to strlkn.
