It eteat me the life of my 11 rut -born, who at the time of his diath was nearly a year and a half old. uinl from that time till now I have studied Ita symptom ami fought It sui'i-eaafully In my family, sometime with and sometime without the aid of the medical frativtlty, while my wlfo and I hitve nursed Its patients, day and night, for weeks at a time. I find a woeful amount of Ignorance In this community numldr of the medical fra ternity on this moat loathsome and fa tal and louthKomo dlseom!. Feeling as I h that my experience may be of some value to household that may be lnvuil.il by the disease, I write some aiiirgift Ions' In the nursing of Its pa tients. With these simple yet most effective romelli-a together with the fajthful at tendance of a good physician, diph theria, neeil not prove fatal unless the disease find a low state of physical con ditions to begin with. It may not be no easy to prognose the dlmviftc. but the following are some of Its symptoms. Languldneas; lews of appetite; swelling of tm throat from the eajs down towards the shoulder. Rising fever. On examining the throat white patches are found, smooth anil glossy, of a color like a boiled egg.
