At an adjourned mothly meeting of the water commission last night, the pay rolls as follows were allowed: Dis tribution system, new work, $74 85; ex penses of taking up the old conduit. 1151.03; general expenses, $209.33; office expenses. $S0; sundry bills, 1221.06. Two communications were received from the committee on fire and water of the common council, requesting that cer tain faucets and hydrants be furnished by the commission for the use of the city. The commission Instructed the clerk to reply to the communications advising the lire and water committee that there were no funds In the hands of the commission available for such purposes. The lighthouse tender Columbine, Captain Richardson, leaves out Satur day afternoon for Seattle. A stop will be made on the way at Cape Flattery where a few- tons of supplies will be landed for United States engineers. From Flattery the run will be made to Seattle, where Lieutenant Comman der Merrill, U. 8. X lighthouse In spector for this district, and party, will Join the ship. A cruise will be made from Seattle to all of the light stations on the Sound, and on the return trip buoys will be renovated and the light station at Flattery will be officially inspected. From Flattery the Colum bine will proceed to Destruction Is land and Inspect that light station. Wlllapa bay will be visited and the station there inspected. From Wlllapa the ship will return to Astoria. Cap tain Richardson Is fearful that he will not be able to return In time for the opening of the regatta, but If smooth weather is had and no fogs encounter ed, the trip, which some times requires two weeks, may be shortened to ten days.
