"Our hay Industry Is the largest and should receive careful attention from all. It is a fact to be much regretted that tons and tons of hay are Import ed from California. Others say that the up-river timothy Is better than Clatsop county tide land hay, while the retailer says that he has to keep what the people demand. After carefully considering everything It comes back to the farmer whoii lalms to be unable to raise a fine grade of hay. This certainly cannot be the ease; It Is simply a matter of how to go about It. I am positive that we are able to grow, under certain condi tions, as good hay as comes to As toria from elsewhere. It Is only a question of how to grow it and where to grow It. It Is a well known fact that our uplands will produce, if not as much as the low lands, at least a better quality.
