The football game scheduled to take place at South Bend today, between the Astoria club and the South Bend boys, has been postponed until August 1st when the game will take place at South Bend. Lawyer Thomson yesterday after noon, with his wife, chaperoned a party of ladies and children on a ber rying expedition' over the hills. Lota of fun was had, if the palls were only half full of berries. Judge Gray, G. Wlngatee, C. S. Wright and others will make a trip by team today or tomorrow Into the Lewis and Clarke valley. They will go out of the city over the hills and ferry across Young's river. The lawn social given yesterday af ternoon by the Ladies' Guild at the residence of Mrs. C. J. Trenchard, proved a success. Machinery for the Entire Plant Come from Chicago. to John Kopp's new brewery and Its adjacent buildings are rapidly nearing completion. The cold storage. Ice stor age. Ice factory, machinery and boiler houses are now all complete. In the engine room the concrete foundation for the big engine, is nearing the top of the floor. It was necessary to build this foundation up from the bed of the river, and It has been a difficult piece of work. The boilers to be used will be of the marine pattern, and of the very best manufactured. The brew house, which Is being constructed of brick on a concrete foundation laid on piles, is now above the second story, and so far 125,000 brick have been laid In Its walls. An elevator run by a donkey engine is used to carry the material to the upper floors. Superintendent Nlcoll and Contract or Surprenant are very busy men Just now. The class of work put up by these gentlemen Is too well known to need comment. Architect Schacht, who Is now acting as his own super intendent, while Mr. Nlcoll Is com pleting the details of the plans for the Ilwaco building, says that he has never seen better work than is being done on the Kopp plant. When fin ished the brewery will have a capacity of 300 barrels per day. All of the storage houses, offices, barns and other buildings of the plant are complete In every detail. Mr. Schacht yesterday received a telegram from Chicago stating that the entire machinery plant for the brewery would be shipped next week.
